The copy-paste job

An order arrives in one system. Somebody reads it, opens a second system, types most of it in again, then updates a spreadsheet so a third person knows it happened. Nobody designed this. It accumulated.

The work is rarely clever. It's reading one system's idea of a record, turning it into another system's idea of the same record, and being honest about the cases where the two don't line up. Most of the value is in handling those cases properly rather than pretending they don't exist.

What happens when it breaks

Integrations fail. An API changes, a certificate expires, a supplier sends a file with a column missing. The question is not whether that happens but what the system does about it.

Ours stop, keep the record, and tell somebody. They do not half-apply a change and carry on, and they do not fail silently for six weeks until an invoice doesn't match. We've kept the unglamorous plumbing running for businesses where an outage is somebody's emergency, not a ticket in a queue, and that is mostly what the experience is for.

Using what you already pay for

You probably don't need another subscription. Most of the systems already in your stack have an API, a webhook or at worst a scheduled export, and the job is to make those talk to each other without a person in the middle retyping things.

Where an off-the-shelf automation tool genuinely does the job, we'll tell you to use it. It's a shorter conversation and you'll still be able to change it yourself later.
