We've been building for the web since the late nineties. Back then, a site was a folder of files we uploaded by hand and hoped for the best. The tools have changed many times since. The method hasn't. Work out what someone actually needs. Build the simplest thing that does it. Then make sure it still works on a quiet Tuesday when nobody's watching.
Along the way, we've written grammar-checking rules by hand for Microsoft. We've prepared the data that machine learning systems run on. And we've kept the unglamorous plumbing running between the systems a business depends on. When that breaks, it's somebody's emergency, not a ticket in a queue.
That mix is why our AI work holds up. We know when a language model is the right tool, and when a few lines of plain code will do the job better.
We've done all of it remotely, for teams in Europe, Asia and Australia, long before remote work needed a name.
Barkada is Tagalog for the tight circle of friends who actually show up. It's how we work: the people you talk to are the people who build it.
